This month’s reading is a little late due to a death in my family, but this one is definitely worth the wait. This month, everywhere I turn there are omens of transformation, change, and rebirth. This month is packed with both astrological and astronomical events also signifying change. I used the Manga Tarot by Selena Lin. If you are a fan of anime, manga, or whimsy this is an absolutely beautiful deck. The colors are vibrant and the artwork is gorgeous.
The overall theme of the month – Ace of Swords
The Ace of Swords is telling us that this month will bring an “aha!” moment. If you’ve been feeling at a stalemate, this energy will be a perfect time to find a new understanding with mental clarity. If you’ve been lacking energy, the Ace of Swords is telling us that now is a good time to act and get excited.
1st Week of August – Ten of Swords
The Ten of Swords is a card that signifies hitting rock bottom, but it is also a signifier of change. Once you hit the absolute bottom, where else can you go? You can only go up from here. You may be experiencing death, failure, endings, loss, and pain, but the Ten of Swords is telling us that it can only get better from here. Keep going and accept the negative changes in your life, so that you may release their burdens and climb back to the top.
2nd week of August – Ace of Wands
The Ace of Wands brings us away from the bottom of the pit that the Ten of Swords signified. This card is about being pumped up, excited, passionate, and energetic. Trust your instincts. If you need to start small, do so, but this card is about action so go for it! Act now, spend no more time planning and go for that thing that you’ve been thinking about.
3rd Week of August – Temperance
The Temperance card is about balance, patience, and moderation. This week you will want to slow down from the energy of the Ace of Wands and focus on being patient and acting precisely. You should hone the energy of self reflection and re-examining your priorities. Don’t feel the need to rush this week. This is actually also part of the theme for change, for without self-evaluation we cannot transition into a higher version of ourselves.
4th week of August – The World
What a great card to end the month of August with! The World is a card about celebration, completion, and fulfillment. Your efforts are paying off, you are stronger because of your struggles, and you have worked hard to get where you are now. You may not be exactly where you want to be, but you are so much closer than where you were before. The changes you have made and faced are worth a celebration. This can also represent finding your place in the world and finding a place that you fit.
Special Card for the Solar Eclipse on August 21, 2017 – The Fool
Guess what The Fool is telling you about the solar eclipse?! It is a time of change, transformation, renewal, rebirth. There is so much of it this month and the eclipse is another indicator. How funny that The Fool should show his face for this reading. Use the energy of the eclipse to let go of what you need to let go of and bring in the energy of transformation that you need to continue forward. The Fool encourages enjoying life, taking advantage of new opportunities, and setting forward on new adventures. You deserve it!
White is the color of purity. It’s the color of cleansing and clearing, a blank slate. It’s the color of a fresh new start.
I’ll be honest, I’ve never really liked the color white. I always feel like a white wall/item of clothing/piece of paper is just an opportunity to add some vibrant, lively color. That goes for all shades of white, including ivory, bone, linen. I’d really rather see something evocative.
But what’s more evocative than the weathered white of bleached bone? Or the texture of an egg shell and the new life it promises? The purity of light as it fills the interior or a beautiful crystal?
In magick, we use white for cleansing/clearing/purifying. It’s also the color of spiritual enlightenment, as it’s associated with the crown chakra. Peace, healing, positive energy, and innocence also fall under the domain of white color magick.
How to use the magick of the color white? Burn a candle, carry a clear or white crystal or stone, wear a white dress, or collect bleached shells among the white sands of a beach. Bring the power of white into your magick and bring purity and cleansing into your life!
Hi there! Amanda here. I decided to do a spread to represent the overall theme of the month for July and then pull four cards, one for each week in the month. I used The Faeries Oracle by Brian Froud and Jessica Macbeth. I hope you enjoy this reading as it is very appropriate!
The overall theme of the month – Losgunna, Discovery of Self, Adventure
This card is all about exploration! How appropriate for the summer month of July (here in the United States, anyway.) Losgunna encourages us to explore who we really are, the good and the bad. We will discover parts of our talents and potentials that have been hidden by old traumas and misunderstandings, or by lack of opportunity. But this card does not only reflect emotional discovery, but new experiences as well. Listen to different styles of music, try new tastes, look at new sights, and look at them with an open mind. She wants you to explore new ideas.
She suggests soothing baths, hot tubs, trips to places we have never been, take classes in subjects we always wanted to study. Explore!
1st week of July – Mikle a Muckle, Everyday blessings, play, mixed blessings
This card goes along perfectly with the overall theme for July. Mikle a Muckle wants you to be merry with a childlike open heart. Mikle says, “Little things come in good packages.” He can be foolish, silly, and playful. When we stop pretending to be adults for a moment, stop trying to live up to impossible and probably boring standards, we can regain the sense of wonderment and vision of a child. We can see things as they really are.
Mikle is telling us to lighten up and don’t complicate matters! What you see is what you get. Don’t look for hidden and subtle meanings and motivations because they are not there in this case. Don’t get so caught up in the future that you can’t see what is happening now. Welcome adventure, try something you’ve never done before.
2nd week of July – Nelys the Alchemyst, Inner transformation, irrevocable change
Nelys is a mistress of the alchemical arts, representing the study and practice of transforming. She recognizes that transformation may take place from the inside or the outside. When Nelys appears, she waves her wand and things happen in ourselves and in the world. Get ready for things to start happening, inwardly and outwardly. The feeling of stuck is now unstuck and you may have to run to keep up with the pace of change! We can never go back to what we were and in this case, it is a very good thing. ‘
3rd week of July – She of the Cruach, nurturing, fertility
This card is the Great Goddess, the many-named mother of all, and all goddesses are attributes or aspects of her. Her cup, the Cruach, overflows with bounty for all. She is the yin energy of the universe -nurturing, compassionate, and wise. In this particular spread, she is telling us to nurture our desires for adventure and play.
4th week of July – The Rarr, wild energy, pure potential
Rarrs are energetic. They add excitement to what is going on and add energy to it. They are pure potential. Rarrs are like Tigger in the Pooh stories. They bounce, they zoom, they go off on wild tangents. This Rarr is telling you to be attentive to what you are giving your energy and intentions to. Don’t get carried away by his enthusiasm, but do take advantage of the energy. You can accomplish a great deal with this energy! When you encounter the Rarr, breath slowly. Center and earth yourself and be clear about your objectives before you go for them.
